Cool Kids Never Have the Time

Ah, summer. The glorious three months spent forgetting everything you studied, be you eight or twenty. A time for tube-pops (or whatever the hell those popsicles-in-a-plastic-tube were called), pool parties and really wishing you could make out with the girl in the bikini at the pool who is constantly surrounded by her girlfriends (okay, maybe just me on that last one). There's a certain warm magic to it that is hard to match, especially spending most of your time in a hotter-'an-hell kitchen.

Still, as is tradition, I've put together my mixtape for the summer. And as I like to keep most of my mixes to CD format, I've in fact got not one but two CD's worth of material for you. One's a more upbeat, poppy mix for carousing about in the daytime (I have no shame including Vanessa Carlton's all-too-obvious "White Houses" on here). Another for night, it's a little more grown-up and reflective (ergo Franz Ferdinand's cover of "All My Friends", a terrific song for a 75 MPH night on the town). And so I give you Summer Blend 2008
